John B. ★★★★★ What a fantastic Menswear shop!. Buy a suit nowadays is mostly done online. Astares is a well stocked menswear shop catering for all sizes, and allows you to try before you buy. Forget the larger chain stores, Astares gives you the personal, professional and knowledgeable touch which has disappeared in most shops. I would wholeheartedly recommend Astares, I just wish I had found it sooner rather than hunting around other menswear shops who weren't really interested about your needs and requirements, especially if you don't meet the standard sizes. Rebecca S. ★★★★★ Went in to find my Fiancés suite for our upcoming wedding, and found Astares through Google. Went in as I would rather go to a local, small business then a large company. Went in with my mum and dad, as he wanted to have a look and possibly get a new suite. When we walked in Jez welcomed us with a large smile and warm friendly demeaner. He let us have a look though the options and pick out ones we wanted to try, then offered advice and assistance when it came to my fiancé trying on the suites. After trying on a couple of suites, and choosing the perfect Waistcoat, and tie to match the suite and colour scheme of the wedding, he measured my fiancé up and gave his recommendation of what needed to be altered, and also gave us a great recommendation so we could get it altered to be perfect!Jez had a great sense of humour, especial with my dad, who likes to have his suites on the more roomy side for comfort, but was professional, not pushy and all round fantastic at his job.Ruth as well did a great job at steaming and checking the suite over to make sure there were no marks, damaged area or anything that might be off with the suite.All in all, if you want to get a suite for a special occasion, and a suite you can wear again, I would highly recommend Astares, and if they ever do women's suites I will be in there like a bat out of hell, because the suite my partner has is fantastic, and I would love to get myself one! From the moment we walked in, Jez was incredibly helpful and polite.The range of suits and ties at Astares is truly excellent, they have something for every style, and the quality of the garments is amazing . But what really sets Astares apart is the exceptional customer service, and Jez and Ruth are fantastic. Jez's knowledge of the suit and ties was excellent, providing numerous tie options to match our wedding colours.When we first arrived we had the shop to ourselves but Jez was the perfect amount of attentive without being overwhelming, there was no pressure at all. By Jez’s recommendation we left the shop to take a break and have a think, with no expectation from him for us to come back if we weren’t ready. When we returned after a quick coffee the shop was much busier but Jez’s demeanour never changed, maintaining his polite and attentive manner to all the customers.Overall, our experience at Astares Menswear was absolutely lovely. Steven P. ★★★★★ Update 01 October 2023:Google won't let me write another review but I can still edit this one, so here goes:Approximately eight months ago, I wrote my first review of Astares, based on my experience and I said I would be a returning customer. I did return, in person, and its a 220 mile around trip for me (and worth the effort), and met a fabulous couple running a small business with all the attributes that I described in my initial review.I have returned via email and phone since that in person visit, too. I've bought three piece suits, for various occasions now. Mainly weddings but sadly a funeral, too. Thanks to Astares tutorials, I've also learnt how to double windsor knot my ties! Another recent purchase, I sought their professional expertise on a suit they didn't actually stock. I sent photos of the suit, with a bit of childish colouring in for the tie and suit combo. The following working day, I received a genuine response, and photographs to aid the visualisation, supporting why I return as a customer. I replied with the following:"Seeing the photos you've provided proves the reason why you do what you do and I do what I do, for a living, and that's another reason why I like buying from you. The majority of other retailers would just look to close out a quick sale."I received an honest, professional perspective, from people I trust, based on my interactions with them, be it in person, email or over the phone. I will not go anywhere else for my suits or advice. Astares is a great business, owned and operated by a fantastic couple, with honest values, and the service is impeccable. Give them the opportunity to serve you, and I very much doubt you'll regret the decision.Original review below:Looking for a Marc Darcy three piece suit, I landed on Astares website. They had exactly what I was looking for in the presumed correct sizes. I placed my order 28 December, with little expectation of receiving delivery that week, due to the festivities and turbulent times that we find ourselves in! However, I received my delivery within 48 hours. Happy days and credit to Astares customer service and turn around time, and to their courier of choice. Now, the presumed correct sizes of blazer and waistcoat were flawed on my part, largely due to poor measuring skills and an older, inferior quality suit, in my possession! I called Astares within 30 minutes of trying on the garments, and left a voicemail for a return call. In less than 90 seconds, I've received that return call, from Jez, who did not hesitate to offer the support I was in need of due to inaccuracies on my part. Not only did Jez reserve the replacement garments for me, immediately, to avoid selling out of stock, between Jez and Ruth they have arranged same day collection from my home address to save me the hassle of a drop off, and for a bargain return sender fee. Within hours, the courier has collected, and the package is on its merry way back to Astares. Now, bear in mind new year celebrations, the return journey, the inspection, the rubber stamp of OK, and the sending out of replacement garments, that was all done and dusted in the space of six calendar days. Exceptional turn around, in my opinion, and a very happy customer. I went in for a wedding suit and I also bought a tuxedo for a cruise I was going on. Has tailored recommendations for alterations from different areas to get the final tailored finishes should this be required. Parking isn't ideal if you are lazy like me but worth the small walk to the carpark. My fiancé and I were trying to find a particular Marc Darcy waistcoat for our wedding October - it was completely sold out in his size on every single website and I was tearing my hair out trying to find it in stock anywhere. Ruth from Astares was kind enough to phone the suppliers, find out when the waistcoat was back in stock and then give me the option of ordering from Marc Darcy directly or from Astares. As it was such a specific colour I was happy to go with Ruth for the extra reassurance it would be right! She took the time to call me to let me know the waistcoat had arrived and been set aside for me. So nice to know that someone knowledgable and helpful was on the other end of the ordering process. chantelle W. ★★★★★ Outstanding service and knowledge of the suits on sale in this fabulous shop. I honestly thought suit shopping was going to be a royal painstaking task. We found this site on google and headed straight there, the shop was busy with clients all looking for their purchases. Myself and fiancé were welcomed on arrival whilst browsing we found some ideas of what we were looking for, my fiancé was measured by EYE no tape measure required he knew exactly what size he was and offered the garments for him to try, he let us wonder and try alternatives at our leisure. When our turn came for service we were offered alternative items to show how the suits work with other colors. The store has every size in every range there was nothing that wasn’t there like next or similar, we find nothing worse than going for a suit but can’t get your exact measurements and have to go back or order online! We had none of this. Everything was on the hangers waiting to be tried on. Reasonable price for a three piece suite in tweed to!! You will not be disappointed with the quality of them. When we had decided on the suit my fiancés was guided with what he thought alteration would be needed. Noted all this down with recommended trailers. The suits was steamed and placed in a suit bag.
